This year, Camp Hornet will provide five weeks of an outstanding summer camp experience with well-rounded activities for campers from ages 6 to 14 (campers must be 6 years of age before their first day of attendance at camp). At Camp Hornet, we adhere to the philosophy that the key to a successful camping experience starts with each child having an enthusiastic and experienced counselor. We maintain a low camper/counselor ratio, and we provide a safe environment in which fun and learning go hand in hand. As part of each camp day, your child will have an instructional swim lesson and a recreational swim period in our indoor heated pool. Our Red Cross-certified swimming instructors evaluate each child to determine ability level and then develop lessons to improve swimming skills and confidence in the water over the course of each week.
To maximize the fun for everyone, Camp Hornet is divided into age-appropriate groups. Our youngest campers are introduced to the excitement of the summer camp experience. Understanding that camp often represents a set of "firsts" for children, we work with families to create a gentle transition for fun and discovery. Our younger program centers on a balance of structured activities with free play opportunities. Our younger campers thrive at Camp Hornet during carefully paced days balancing physical and creative activities with structured and imaginative play. Your child will be in a safe and nurturing environment supervised by adult counselors who have experience working with young children.
For our middle and older age groups, Camp Hornet is all about choices! Campers will have the opportunity to enjoy arts & crafts, games/challenges, water slides/water play, hiking, and nature exploration. Sports activities include baseball, basketball, flag football, kickball, soccer, capture the flag, floor hockey, volleyball, and tennis (just to name a few!). All equipment and instruction are geared to ensure the success of our campers.
We will continue throughout the summer with our special activities and theme days for all of Camp Hornet. The air-conditioned Beckerman Athletic Center (Skiff Street Campus) will serve as a "home base" for all of our activities - both inside and out! The weekly tuition is $340 ($272 for the shortened July 5th week). Campers have the flexibility of registering for any combination of one to five weeks between the dates of June 28th and July 3Oth. Camp Hornet
meets daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For each day of camp, your child will need to bring a backpack with a snack, lunch, water, bathing suit, and towel. (PLEASE, NO PEANUT PRODUCTS!)
If you register two siblings or more for five weeks of camp, the first camper pays full price and the others pay half price.Change/Cancellation Policy: Any program may be canceled because of insufficient enrollment, in which case, the registration fee would be refunded in full.
