All after-school activities canceled 11/15

Due to the impending storm, all after-school and evening activities have been canceled for Thursday,  November 15. Parents should plan to pick up their child at the normal dismissal time (3pm). Commuter runs will leave campus beginning at 3:15pm. There will be no late runs. Parents' Association Pie Pick up will be from noon - 3:30pm today. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s divisional office.

At any time, you can fill out our online inquiry form to have a viewbook and application mailed to you. We will also send you invitations to our October Open House, Morning Coffee and Tour days, and other special events on campus. You can request this information by calling the Office of Admissions at (203)752-2610 as well.

Apply

You can apply to Hamden Hall online! Please click on the link to the right of this page to access our application. If you prefer to complete the application by hand, you can do so and mail it to the Office of Admissions with a current picture of the applicant. Also, please do not forget to include the non-refundable $60 application fee.
Applicants who apply by the initial January 15 deadline will have a decision sent by mail by February 22.  Applications that are received after this initial deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis, provided space is available.

Weber Scholarship

Weber Scholars are selected from our pool of applicants for grades 7-12 each year.  Please visit the Weber Scholarship page for more information.

Tour Campus

We invite you to attend one of Hamden Hall’s Morning Coffee and Tour events. You will have the opportunity to speak with students, faculty, and administrators as well as see the campus while classes are in session. These generally fall on select Thursday mornings from 9-10:30am. A list of Morning Coffee dates can be found on our Admissions Events Calendar.

Register for Testing

Register to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT). If you take the ISEE or SSAT at a different test site, be sure to request that the results are sent to Hamden Hall. Our testing codes are: 070258 (ISEE) and 3655 (SSAT).

Financial Aid

Please visit the Affording Hamden Hall page to get more information about applying for financial aid.  Financial aid can be applied for online at the SSS website starting November 1st.  Financial aid applications must be completed by January 15th in order for the committee to make a decision by the beginning of March. A student’s application for admission must be complete before their application for financial aid will be considered.  In order to be eligible for need-based financial aid, the SSS application must be completed during the admissions process.  You will be informed of our admissions and financial aid decisions at the same time.

  • PreSchool through Grade 1

    Records and Recommendations: Have your child’s current school complete the forms listed below and send them directly to Hamden Hall. Transcripts or report cards sent must be current and official. Recommendations must be completed by current teacher(s) and an Administrator.

    Parent Interview/Student Assessment: The applicant and their parent(s) will come to our campus for a developmentally appropriate screening and parent interview. The visit will last approximately one hour.


  • Grades 2 through 6

    Records and Recommendations: Have your child’s current school complete the forms listed below and send them directly to Hamden Hall. Transcripts or report cards sent must be current and official. Recommendations must be completed by current teacher(s) and an Administrator.

    Student Visit/Assessment: The applicant visits a classroom of their current grade with a student host, followed by an individual assessment in language arts and math. The visit will last approximately three hours.

    Parent Interview: After your child is settled in the classroom, we will meet for the parent interview to learn more about your child and family and to provide you with an opportunity to ask questions about Hamden Hall.
  • Grades 7 through 12

    Records and Recommendations: Have your child’s current school complete the forms listed below and send them directly to Hamden Hall. Transcripts or report cards sent must be current and official. Recommendations must be completed by current teacher(s) and an Administrator.

    3. Math Teacher Recommendation
    4. Principal/Administrator Recommendation

    Testing: Register your child for testing. Hamden Hall administers the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) and the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). For additional information, contact the Office of Admissions.

    Interview: Contact the Office of Admissions to schedule an interview.

    School Visit (recommended): Visiting opportunities are listed in the Admissions’ section of our website. Private tours can be scheduled by calling the Office of Admissions. Students who have applied are welcome to schedule a shadow day where they will attend classes with a current Hamden Hall student.

    Character Skills Snapshot (recommended): Character and personal growth are an integral part of a Hamden Hall Country Day School education. Grades and test scores just don’t tell us the whole story of your child. The Character Skills Snapshot gives us richer holistic information and illuminates areas where we can help your child grow and thrive. Complete online at ssat.org/snapshot.
  • International

    Testing: In addition to the grade-level requirements above, international students must submit an official TOEFL score report (using school code 3227).  Students applying to middle schol can submit TOEFL or TOEFL JR. scores.

    Interview: Schedule an interview and tour, or contact the Office of Admissions to schedule an online interview.

    I-20: International students who are admitted to Hamden Hall are able to apply for an I-20/F-1 Visa.
