Class of 1998 alumna Megan Brownstein Rutstein will be re-shirted as an Alumni Lifer during our annual Lifers’ Shirting Ceremony on campus. Megan was shirted 25 years ago along with four of her classmates. As part of a new tradition, Megan will once again don a special T-shirt commemorating the fact that she was in our halls from PreSchool through Grade 12.

It was a mini-reunion for Class of 1980 alumna Helene Timpson Carter and Class of 1981 alumna Pamela Weltzein as they recently met up in San Francisco where they were both visiting family. The two have stayed in touch throughout the years and spent time catching up and wandering through Chinatown.

She will continue her journey at Boston Consulting Group as an ABE Email Marketing Specialist.
Class of 2018 alumna Maisa Della Valle will pursue a career in psychedelic-assisted psychiatry following her graduation last spring from Wake Forest University. She majored in psychology and double minored in chemistry and biology.
Class of 2011 alumna Taylor Massey graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Family Nurse Practitioner degree and was awarded the silver medal for academic excellence.
Wilbur Zhou, Class of 2016, graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in statistical and mathematical biology. He is currently pursuing an MBA degree at Yale School of Management in the Silver Scholar program.

Anthony Maisano, Class of 2017, graduated cum laude with a 3.96 GPA from the first graduating class of the Freeman School of Business Management at Bucknell University. Anthony obtained a bachelor of science degree in finance and accounting.
Hamden Hall’s eighth head of school, James R. Maggart, passed away Nov. 19, 2021. Jim had served for 13 years under the pines before retiring in May 2004. Upon his retirement in 2004, Jim was surprised with news that his school community had established the James R. Maggart Scholarship Fund in his honor.

Ann Rademacher Burrow, Class of 1946, died peacefully in Hamden on January 29, 2023 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gerard "Jerry" Burrow, and is survived by three children.
Early in her marriage, Ann spent two years in Japan where Jerry was working and she learned calligraphy and flower arranging. Upon returning to Conn., Ann became active in various non-profit and charitable organizations. She was also a Cub Scot den mother and a Brownie Troop Leader.
A private burial service was held at the Grove Street Cemetery. Hamden Hall wishes the Burrow family sincere condolences.
Alumna Susan Thalheimer Strauss, Class of 1947, died on May 10 in Iowa City. She was 93. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Strauss. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. John Strauss, whom she married in 1950, and daughter Mary Strauss-Penka.
Susan was surrounded by the arts growing up in New Haven and developed a real passion for theatre, music, dance performance and the visual arts. She and her family moved to Iowa in 1978 and worked as a travel agent and enjoyed quite a bit of travelling through the years.
A special remembrance on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Heiden Room at Oaknoll, 1 Oaknoll Court in Iowa City.
