Hamden Hall’s eighth head of school, James R. Maggart, passed away Nov. 19, 2021. Jim had served for 13 years under the pines before retiring in May 2004. Upon his retirement in 2004, Jim was surprised with news that his school community had established the James R. Maggart Scholarship Fund in his honor.
Jim's fund supports the education of young women.

Gabriella "Gaby" Hebert, Class of 1979, passed away on August 20 after a courageous battle with cancer. She had been predeceased by her husband, Tom Benedict.
Kendra "Kandi" Riccio, wife of alumnus Marc Riccio, Class of 1973, and sister-in-law of alumnus and Hamden Hall Trustee Dr. David Riccio, Class of 1970 died peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 9 at Smilow Cancer Hospital of Yale/New Haven Health.
Longtime automotive executive and Hamden Hall supporter and friend David M. McDermott of Palm Beach, Fla., and Essex, Conn., died peacefully on July 17 at the age of 87.
Bill Polinsky, Hamden Hall Class of 1958, of Harwinton, died peacefully on July 16, after a quick decline with dementia. He leaves behind his four children: Eric, Mark, Bill, and Sarah, and his six grandchildren, two of which attended Hamden Hall.
