  SPRING 2026 BOYS’ TRAVEL BASKETBALL TRYOUTS 
  For Grade-Based Spring Hoop Travel Teams: Grades 4-8 
  
  *Open to ALL communities.

  Tryout 1 = Sunday, February 8/ noon - 2 p.m. 
  
  Tryout 2 = Saturday, February 21 / 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  
  Tryout 3 = Saturday March 7/ 10-11 a.m. 
  
  Tryout 4 = Thursday, March 19 / 6-8 p.m.
  
  

  Information: HHBC Spring Travel Basketball Teams are designed for kids who love to play the sport of basketball and enjoy overall competition. The different aged/grade teams will be picked from an extensive tryout process. Once teams have been set up they will have up to two practices a week and play a competitive Spring season in at least 6 regional (CT area mostly, but could be MA, NY, & RI) weekend-type tournaments. Will have an outstanding coaching staff working with all age groups with mostly college and high school head coaching experience.
  
  Program Cost: $900 per player (payment plans are available upon request) Cost includes Team Uniform, Practice Top, Tournament Entry Costs, Insurance Coverages, HHBC Coaching Staff, 20-Plus Practice Dates, and Beckerman Complex Rental Fees.

  Coach Doherty is the Head Coach of the Hamden Hall Varsity
  Boys’ Basketball Team and brings over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience. Under his leadership, the Hornets won back-to-back Fairchester League Regular Season and Playoff Championships (2017-18 & 2018-19) and captured the NEPSAC Class B Championship in 2018-19 with an impressive 25-2 record. Before Hamden Hall, Doherty spent nine years as an assistant coach at Division I Quinnipiac University, coached at Salem State College with a dominant 91-20 record, and helped lead Holy Cross to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

  • We have 14U, 15U, 16U and 17U teams.
  • Sunday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 9
  • Private tryouts are available to players who are unable to attend a scheduled session. Immediate opportunities are available - contact Coach Aurora to schedule a tryout today.

  Coach Aurora brings 16 years of experience as a high school head volleyball coach and 4 years as a club coach. 

  His accomplishments include:

  • Advancing to the semi-finals of Class-C in the New England playoffs (2024-2025)
  • Qualifying for the Fairchester Athletic Association playoffs (2023-2025)
  • Qualifying for the CIAC Class-S State Volleyball Tournament six times (2001-2006)
  • Reaching the quarter-finals four times (2001-2003, 2006)
  • Coaching four First Team All-Shoreline players and two First Team All-State players
  • Supporting the recruiting process for his players who have played or are playing in college

  About Coach Kiernan Griffin

  Hamden Hall alum Kiernan Griffin (‘00) returned in 2021 to lead the Wrestling and Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse teams and now oversees the newly established Hamden Hall Wrestling Club. A former multi-sport athlete, he earned 13 varsity letters in football, wrestling, and lacrosse and was a two-time National Prep qualifier.

  Kiernan continued his athletic career at Trinity College, later studying Fine Art Photography in California. He built a successful contracting business before returning to Connecticut, where he coached at Hamden Hall and led youth lacrosse programs.
