“Greeno” Jr. Marries Yale Classmate

John "Greeno" Greenawalt Jr., Hamden Hall Class of 2008, married his Yale University college classmate, Samantha Dixon, on June 10, 2017, at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, Conn. The weather was perfect that day, and the happy couple was surrounded by family and friends for the joyous occasion, including several members of their Hamden Hall "family.”  Standing up as a witness for the groom during the ceremony was Greeno’s 2008 classmate Dave Satterwhite. Another 2008 classmate, Jon Stone, built the couple a beautiful arch that was the centerpiece of the outdoor ceremony. Rob Dimenstein, Class of 2009, and Louis Polison, who attended Hamden Hall, rounded out the rest of the former "Anti-Dentite" crew (Hamden Hall coffee houses from 2004 to 2008, anyone?). Susannah Frew, Class of 2007, was also in attendance. Other members of the Hamden Hall community who celebrated the couple’s wedding included the groom's cousins, Jake Hurwitz, Class of 2004, and Micah Hurwitz, Class of 2012, and Greeno’s aunt, former Hamden Hall teacher Laura Hurwitz. Current Hamden Hall teachers Stephanie Spaulding and Sara Dixon attended with their husbands, Henry Kwan and Mark Dixon, respectively. Former Hamden Hall parents in attendance included Samuel Hurwitz, Diana Brownell, Corey Stone, and Sue McDonald. Last but not least (of course!), were the groom’s parents, our Upper School Dean of Students John “Greeno” Sr. and his wife, Suzanne Greenawalt. John and Samantha are living in the Boston area where John is pursuing a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Boston University. His primary area of focus is robotics, and he will graduate in May 2018.  Samantha works in the development office at Harvard University's School of Public Health. The newlyweds recently adopted two kittens from a Boston shelter. Congratulations to the Greenawalt Family!
