Alexis Vetre Harris, Hamden Hall Class of 2001, has returned to Hamden Hall to sit on the other side of the desk! Alexis is teaching third grade at her alma mater and says she’s “happy to be back.” Alexis earned her bachelor’s in biology and psychology from Union College and a master’s in elementary education from SUNY New Paltz. For the last seven years, she taught at Fair Haven in New Haven where she taught the sixth grade her first year and first grade for the last six years. She was part of a curriculum facilitators’ program that planned and provided professional development for the district's kindergarten through second-grade teachers. She also served on a committee that revised and wrote curriculum for grades kindergarten through second grade. “I am happy to be back at Hamden Hall to join the school's community as part of the faculty,” Alexis said. “I fondly remember my experiences here as a student, and I hope to be able to help create the same for my students. I’m looking forward to contributing to the school's excellence in education, collaborating with colleagues, and working with parents. I hope to create a classroom community where students take chances to grow and have a vested interest in learning.” Alexis and her husband, Jonathan, who is a chef, have a 2-year-old daughter, Ava.
