Make Cool Summer Connections at Camp Hornet
Summer campers go GAGA for Hamden Hall’s Camp Hornet because its puts them in the pits – literally!
GAGA Ball is a popular offering at Camp Hornet each year as children eagerly step into the specialized pit to try their hand at the fast-paced, dodgeball-inspired game.
“Summer camp is a great opportunity for children to ‘unplug’ from technology for a while, explore their creative side, spend time with their friends, and have the opportunity to make new friends,” said Summer Programs Director Bruce Rich.
Moreover, Camp Hornet offers that traditional camp experience that is beneficial to children over the summer months as it allows them the freedom to explore and discover new possibilities away from the rigors of the classroom.
Imaginations are free to wander as campers run and play, learn to swim, travel to new locations, and so much more. Theme weeks allow for added pursuits and excitement.
Camp Hornet runs daily from June 13 to August 5 this year and offers campers the flexibility of any combination of one week of fun to eight. It’s divided into four age groups: Hornet Juniors, Hornets, Stingers, and Adventurers to ensure age-appropriate activities and uses the Beckerman Athletic Center as its home base.
More importantly, Camp Hornet provides a safe environment with a low camper to counselor ratio. Experienced counselors – many of whom are Hamden Hall faculty members and our own Upper School students – ensure a successful camping experience that combines fun, learning, and mentorship.
Camp Hornet meets daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for students entering Grades 1 through 8.
An Open House at the Beckerman Athletic Center on April 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. will showcase all of the programming available this summer at Hamden Hall. Besides Camp Hornet, Hamden Hall offers enirchment and for-credit courses at Summer Academy, sports camps that utilize the school’s state-of-the-art Skiff Street Athletic Complex, and a new Early Childhood Discovery Program for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds.
