Former Baseball Standout Returns to Hornet Dugout

Vinny Teixeira 2011 is back in the Hornet dugout as an assistant coach with the Varsity Baseball team. Vinny went on to Manhattan College after Hamden Hall and played all four years with the Jaspers as the team's designated hitter and first baseman.

As a Hornet, Vinny holds the record for career home runs - 14 - and was captain of the team for two years. He and his teammates won the FAA regular season and tournament in 2010 and the New Englands in 2009. Additionally, the team Vinny played on holds the record for the most team wins in a season - 23.

"Vinny is one of the finest baseball leaders, players and citizens we have ever had at Hamden Hall," maintained Varsity Baseball Coach Joe Fontana.

Besides helping the Hornets on the mound, Vinny is coaching AAU and working in his family's business.
