New Government Post for 2014 Alumna

Class of 2014 alumna Maria Kozdroy has found herself a new home and job in Burlington, Vt., as she works as a Construction Control Representative or Project Manager for government construction projects. The post is part of the General Services Administration, which is a government agency.

“My engineering knowledge comes in handy in understanding construction, yet I am not practicing the technical design calculations and analysis I used to do,” said Maria. “While I am not quite directly in the engineering field anymore, I have found a job that I love and each day I leave the office feeling accomplished.”

Maria assumed this role in August 2022 after previously working at AECOM in New York City as a structural engineer in their Transportation Department. In her new position, Maria manages a variety of government projects ranging from courtroom renovations to land port-of-entry renovations. She noted that her biggest management project to date with a value of over $500,000 has been replacing a historic copper roof and repairing the chimney for the Federal Courthouse in Rutland, Vt. She now is now working on a $2 million project

“I thoroughly enjoy working with customers (other Government agencies) in working together to achieve successful projects,” Maria explained.

Maria graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a Master of Engineering degree in structural engineering in 2019. Outside of work, Maria said she enjoys spending time outdoors and partaking in activities including skiing.
