Investment Banking Firm Hires Class of 2016 Alumna

Class of 2016 alumna Valoryn Liu joined LionTree Advisors, an investment banking firm in San Francisco, Calif., as an investment banking analyst for mergers and acquisition advisory in the media and technology industry sector.

 

Joining the firm in 2020, Valoryn along with the 10-person project team completed a $5 billion deal from start to finish. LionTree advised and co-invested with Apollo Funds on the $5bn acquisition of Verizon Media (AOL and Yahoo).

 

Prior to her position with LionTree Advisors, Valoryn completed an investment banking summer internship in 2019 at Morgan Stanley, as part of the Financial Sponsors team. Her responsibilities included assisting the team with their respective deals, performing business and financial analysis, drafting hundred-page meeting materials, in order to provide advisory for clients, such as private equity, hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds on capital raises, investments and transactions involving their portfolio companies.

 

Valoryn graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in statistics and a certificate in entrepreneurship and technology. She also received a Distinction in General Scholarship for overall academic achievement, which is equivalent to Cum Laude.

She is the proud owner of a Bengal kitten named Bonbon, which rhymes with the Chinese pronunciation of little leopard.
