David Pilot, Class of 1972

David Pilot, Class of 1972, passed away suddenly on March 6, 2022. His death was unexpected, according to his classmate, Richard Peck, with whom David had been friends since 1963.

David, 67, had been living in New Haven after having lived for many years in New York City. He was an accomplished producer, writer, director, filmmaker, and playwright in the independent film and theatre industry.

In 2011, David established Pilot Productions, a multi-media company that produced film, theater, music, photography, and dance performance. More recently, he was a producer/director at MOMO, a studio for writers, actors, directors, and mixed media artists that developed new projects for television, film, stage, and the web.

He leaves behind his daughter, Jessica Pilot, and his brother, Joshua Pilot, who attended Hamden Hall for two years and would have graduated with the Class of 1976.

David graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At his 30th reunion, David had some fun with his classmates when he and Richard Peck unveiled a Hamden Hall sign the two said they “borrowed” from the school three decades earlier during their holiday break from college. The two were featured on the cover of the Winter 2003 Alumni Magazine along with former faculty member Michael Sherry.

Please join the Hamden Hall Community in extending deep condolences to David's family and friends. We will post David’s obituary on the In Memoriam section of the school’s website once it is received.
