1984 Alumni Reconnect in Colorado
Robert Rooks, Class of 1984, reported that he moved to Denver a few years ago and has been having fun exploring the state.
His fellow adventure buff is former classmate Austin Baskett. Robert and Austin have been catching up with one another as they traverse some of the scenic wonders that Colorado offers including a recent hike up Missouri Mountain.
According to Rob, “So after living in Boston for 20 years and raising our "kids" (still working on them), my wife and I decided it was time for a life change/adventure. We had lived in Seattle for the 1990s in the years before kids so we thought of going back, but god can it ever rain in Seattle. The compromise to find mountains and wide-open views turned out to be Denver. So, off we went – dropping our youngest child in college at the University of San Francisco in the process. How’s that for taking the long route? That was 2018. Since then we've loved almost every part of our new state! The new people and places have been wonderful, and I reconnected with Austin Baskett and his wife after only seeing him once since graduation in ‘84! I'll let/guilt him into providing an update on all of his life and travels since. Our adventure has slowed a bit since COVID, and our two adult kids are now living with us so we are all taking lots of walks as I discover how fast a 21- and 23-year-old can drain your bar. Love those boys, even as they blurt out ‘Dad, we're out of beer. Oh and vodka. Just letting you know.’ Hiking in the mountains is our therapy so I expect to see Austin in that open air environment again before the snow covers it all.”
