    HHBC AAU Travel Team Programs starting Spring of 2019


    Grade/Age Based Teams
    : 5th Grade (11u), 6th Grade (12u), 7th Grade (13U), & 8th Grade (14u) 9th grade (15u) 

    Tryout Dates: Sunday January 20th, 2019 Time = 1-3 pm 
                          Sunday Feb. 17h & 24th, 2019 @ 4-6pm  
                                      (Must attend 1 tryout) 


    Tryout Fee: FREE 
    (Proper waiver/release forms must be filled out prior to tryouts)

    Description:
     The HHBC Spring AAU Travel Teams ( entering 2nd year ) are designed for kids that love to play the sport of basketball and enjoy overall competition. The different aged 11u, 12u, 13u, & 14u Teams will be picked (from the Winter & early Spring try-out process) Once teams have been set-up they will have up to two practices a week and play a competitive Spring AAU season in many regional (CT, MA, NY) weekend type AAU tournaments. Only want kids who love the game and love to compete to get better. Will have an outstanding coaching staff working with the groups and kids will be motivated and challenged to improve.

    Cost:
     $800.00 per player (payment plans are available upon request) cost which will include: Full team uniform, tournament entry costs, insurance coverages, and Beckerman Gym (one of best facilties in area) rental cost. Parents are responsible for all travel costs to local tournaments, enrollment in AAU player registration and any extra gear players may want to purchase.

About Coach Doherty

Sean Doherty is the Head Coach of the Hamden Hall Varsity Boys’ Basketball team and brings over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience to our Basketball Program. In his 1st season (2017-18) as Head Coach of Hamden Hall the Hornets went 20-5 and won the Fairchester League regular season and Playoff Championships making the Class B NEPSAC Tourney. Prior to Hamden Hall he was at Division 1 Quinnipiac University as an Assistant Basketball Coach for the 9 seasons. He started his coaching career at Worcester State as an assistant coach in 1993 after concluding a solid four-year playing career at Worcester State. Sean later served as an assistant coach at Division II Assumption College (1994-1998) and with three tradition-rich Division I basketball programs: Holy Cross (1999- 2003), Western Kentucky (2003), and Quinnipiac University (2008-2017). In addition, Sean served as the Basketball Camp Director at each school. The Worcester, Mass., native was the Head Coach at Division III Salem State College and took them to new heights over the course of his four seasons at the school. The Vikings posted a 91-20 mark (.820) during his tenure and reached the NCAA Division III tournament three times. In 2006-07, Doherty led Salem State to a 24-3 mark and the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular-season and tournament titles. Sean was named the MASCAC Coach of the Year in the 2003-04 and 2006-07 seasons. Sean was a four-year letter winner at Worcester State before graduating in 1992. He also received a master’s degree in education from Assumption College in 1998. A 1987 graduate of Burncoat High School, Doherty was inducted into the Burncoat Hall of Fame in 2003 as an outstanding three sport athlete at the school. He is currently married with three children and resides in the Hamden area!
