The Boys’ Varsity Water Polo Team won back-to-back matches against Westminster School and Hopkins this past Saturday, September 30.
In the first match against Westminster, senior Connor Jermain had 10 saves in the net as junior Anthony Ferneini led with seven goals, four assists, and two steals. Sophomore Jack Cucchiarelli had two goals, three assists, one steal, and one shot block while fellow sophomore Heath Schwarz had three goals, one assist, three steals, and one shot block. Eighth-grader John Countryman added a goal to the scoreboard for the Hornets and junior Eric Huang had three goals and two steals. The game ended 16-6 in the Hornets favor.
In the second match, Connor led with nine saves and one assist while Anthony had seven goals, one assist, four steals and two shot blocks. Eric landed a goal in the net while sophomore Tyler Tagliarini had three assists. The game ended in a 10-3 victory.
Coach Martha Phelan noted the team record is now 5-0 overall. The team is back for a weekend match on Saturday, October 7, against Choate Rosemary Hall at 6 p.m. and Phillips Andover Academy at 7:15 p.m.
