FAA Invitational Welcomes Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving

The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team competed in the Fairchester Athletic Association League Invitational on Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11.
 
In the Diving Invitational on Friday night, eighth-grader Jehan Mody finished in second place for the 1 meter dive with 176.95 points.
 
For the Boys’ Team, seniors and captain Evan Huang and Patrick Cucchiarelli, junior Connor Jermain, and sophomore Anthony Ferneini set a new school record in the Boys’ 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:31.75. Sophomore Eric Huang finished the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:00.21 while freshman Ravindu Karunaratne finished the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:17.16.
 
For the Girls’ Team, senior Isabella Ferneini finished the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:31.13 and junior Rickey Mason finished the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.29. Eighth-grader Alessandra Sticca finished the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:13.70.
 
According to Coach Jen Lyman, the team had 42 best performances out of 55. The Boys’ Team finished third out of five teams overall and the Girls’ Team finished in sixth place out of seven. 
 
The team returns to the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium for the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference (CISAC) Championships on Wednesday, February 15, at 5 p.m.
