Bayer Family Lower School Science Center

The Bayer Family Lower School Science Center was established in September of 2011. At that time, Hamden Hall renovated nearly 1,500 square feet of space to create a state-of-the-art science center for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6.

Funding for the science center was graciously donated by past parents Joanne and Glenn Bayer, whose son Zachary graduated with the Class of 2013.

"Thanks to the generosity of Hamden Hall's Bayer family, this science center is now a place of wonderment, experimentation, and learning," said Head of School Bob Izzo during an unveiling ceremony.

Stocked with microscopes, test tubes, turtle and fish tanks, and the occasional duckling or two, the center has plenty of space for research, exploration, and more. Instruction within the center is experiential, with students engaged in all things pertaining to the natural world.

"The classroom provides a healthy science learning environment complete with engaging science tools: microscopes, electronics, robotics, chemistry glassware, scales; as well as technology: chrome books and smartboard; and even spaces to work independently and cooperatively," said Steve Jewett, Director of the Bayer Family Science Center.
