Herbert S. Newman, Past Grandparent

Herbert S. Newman died on August 7 at the age of 89. He was the grandfather of Hamden Hall alumnus Silas Newman, Class of 2013.

Herbert was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Edna. He is survived by three sons, several grandchildren, a great-grandson, and his companion, Marsha Schiff and her family. 

Herbert was born in New York and moved to Waterbury. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University , and a Master of Architecture from Yale. He established his own architecture practice in New Haven in 1964. He taught architectural design at Yale University from 1964 to 2017.  

The Hamden Hall community extends sincere condolences to the Newman family.
