Junior Class Student Government Hosts Campus Activities

May marks Mental Health Awareness Month and the Grade 11 Student Government hosted an activity day during assembly time to help Upper School students alleviate stress, pause for a moment of self-care, and take a well-deserved break from academics.

“The idea of today’s activities was to give our classmates a chance to take a break from their busy schedule and relax and hang out with their friends before exams and the end of the school year,” said junior and Student Government member Annabel Beatty. “It was a beautiful day, and we hope everyone got to enjoy themselves.”

On a sunny Friday morning, students spent time across the main campus participating in an array of fun activities. There were many different options to choose from including Kan Jam, bean bag toss, and inflatable bowling in the courtyard; puzzles, coloring, and board games in Swain Library; sidewalk chalk and coloring outside of the cafeteria; and an open basketball game in Taylor Gymnasium. Students also enjoyed snacks and drinks outside of Lower Swain.

According to Junior Class Dean and faculty member Sarrah Gavin, prioritizing mental health is important to the members of the junior class student government and this activity day was a nice way to step out of the classroom and have fun.
