The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team claimed a a 5-0 shut-out victory against Fairchester Athletic Association League rival Greens Farms Academy on Monday, April 3.
Taking the field at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex, the team was fired up. Junior and starting pitcher Gavin Lyons had five strong innings, striking out five players and only allowing two hits. Junior Will McGarry was 2-for-3 with four RBI’s while fellow junior Nick Criscuolo was 1-1 with three runs scored for the Hornets and three RBI’s. Freshmen Amato Civitello and Shaun Flannery were both 1-1 with two runs scored and two walks to help the team secure the final win.
“What a great way to start off the season,” commented Coach Brad Chernovetz. “Everyone got out there and played to their strengths. We will keep the fire going.”
The team takes its first road trip to play against Hopkins School on Tuesday, April 4, at 4:15 p.m.
