Specialist 5 Clifford Smith, Class of 1970, enlisted in the U.S. Army at the New Haven Recruitment Office.
Cliff credits Mr. Ostrander, his biology and chemistry teacher, with inspiring him to study the sciences in college. Holding a bachelor's degree in biology from Keene State, the Army assigned him to assist a research physicist at the Presidio of San Francisco.
During his three-year enlistment, Cliff enjoyed the unique experience of travelling for 55 days to Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok, and Thailand before his final stop in Hawaii. Cliff currently lives in Carson City, Nevada, and welcomes communications from his Hamden Hall classmates.
