Wrestlers Take Silver at Oxford Invitational
The Varsity Wrestling team continued to blitz the opposition as they took Second Place at the annual Oxford Invite on Saturday. The Hornets finished with 124.5 points, just 3.5 points short of champions Rocky Hill HS. The Hornets squared off against six opponents, all public schools, in the individual competition formerly known as the Derby Invitational, Six out of eight wrestlers made it to the final round. Four Hornets won their bracket: Aiden Hebert at 126 lbs., Dylan McNamara at 132, Wyn Veiga at 160, and KlydeAuba at 182. Ethan Fuoco took second place at 145 lbs. as did Jordan Revels at 195. Jack Fuoco and Gabe Vuclic took home the bronze at 126 and 170 lbs. respectively. The team returns to action on Wednesday when they host Chase Collegiate, Wilbraham & Monson, and perennial powerhouse and last year's Western New England champs Brunswick School of Greenwich. The quad meet starts at 4:30 at the Beckerman Center, so start the holiday break by coming out to cheer on the buzzin' Hornets.
