Girls Lax Update

On Friday afternoon Girls Varsity Lacrosse faced off against Greens Farms Academy and lost 18-12 but never gave up, and played great in a hard fought game. Maisa DellaValle led the Hornets with 5 goals, with Karis Curtis scoring 4, Claire Shemo 2, and Justyna Breuler 1. DellaValle and Maddy Malin added an assist each. Goalkeeper Kayleigh Giles turned away 6 shots from the visiting Dragons.

As it was their last home game of the season, the team paid tribute to their 12 graduating seniors for their contributions to the program. Though none are going on to play lax at the next level, their college destinations still represent great achievements by an impressive group of scholar-athletes: Justyna Breuler (University of Michigan), Amanda Carroll (Fairfield University), Marissa Consiglio (Fairfield University), Cassie Delfini (Quinnipiac University), Maisa DellaValle (Wake Forest University), Kayleigh Giles (Villanova University), Miranda Iannone (Cornell University), Alex Johnson (Villanova University), Abby Malin (University of California Berkeley), Hunyee McCollum (UConn), Claire Pancoast (Muhlenberg College), and Natalie Pinela (Yale University).

The Hornets finished the regular season with a record of 4-7 (3-4 in Fairchester play), with two of the losses coming to Hopkins and Rye in sudden death overtime. They have been seeded 6th for the FAA tournament and they will play away at Holy Child (Rye, NY) at 3:00 on Monday. The team will find out at the end of the week if they earn a bid to the inaugural WNEPSWLA girls lacrosse tournament to be held next weekend at Ethel Walker School.
