Boys’ Varsity Baseball Heads to FAA Championship

The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team welcomed Rye Country Day School for the semifinal game of the Fairchester Athletic Association League Tournament at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Tuesday, May 12, winning 9-1.
Senior and starting pitcher Nic Scillia took the mound for the Hornets, striking out three players and only allowing one run off two hits through five innings. Senior Eric Jagielow closed out the game and only allowed two hits.
At the plate, Nic went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run as junior Jey Scanlon went 3-for-4 with one double, two stolen bases, and three runs; and junior Sam Castro went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, one double, and one stolen base. Senior Amato Civitello had one double, one stolen base, and two runs, and freshman Chase Doyle had one triple, one RBI, and one run.

Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that the team record is now 19-4 for the season and 13-1 in FAA league play.

The team returns to the field for the Fairchester Athletic Association League Championship game against Hopkins School at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Friday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m.
