Neuroscience Degree for 2022 Alumnus

Class of 2022 alumnus Amari Phillips graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience with a concentration in systems and behavioral sciences from Trinity College.
During his time in undergrad, Amari was a four-year student-athlete as a member of the intercollegiate football team. He served as a representative on the executive board for the Athletes of Color Coalition and the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Coalition of Student Athletes of Color where he joined other representatives to discuss legislation for sports within the athletic conference.

Amari served as a student mentor at the Montessori Magnet School in Hartford as part of the course, Art and Community. He was also a member of the Pre-Pa Club where students workshopped development into the medical field and sat in discussions with established professionals. Additionally, he had the opportunity to study abroad in Buenos Aires for six months.

Professionally, Amari works as a personal care assistant (PCA) where he supports two families with members on the autism spectrum disorder in the Hartford area. He is currently transitioning to become a personal care technician (PCT) at St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Amari noted that he will be taking a gap year to gain more experience in the medical field before enrolling in the physicians assistant studies program at the school of his choice. With time outside of work, Amari plans to travel around Central and South America, prior to his graduate schooling, starting with Guatemala.
