Football Cruises Past Wilcox Tech in Final Scrimmage
If Friday night's scrimmage against Wilcox Tech is any indication, Hornets fans are in for a very exciting 2012 season. The Hornets' final preseason tune up was played on the magnificent new turf field in front of a big, boisterous crowd. With 8 home games scheduled, and a talented squad that makes HH a contender for the Fairchester title, it should be a special season.
The game featured a brilliant performance by Junior QB TJ Linta as his rifle arm was on display from the beginning of the game to well into the 3rdquarter before the Hornets finished up by getting the younger members of the team some valuable experience in game conditions. Linta completed 5 touchdown throws that went to Jr. receivers Mike Breuler and Mike Whalen as well as Sr. receiver Nick Linta. Linta also ran for two scores. There were significant contributions from WR/LB Dylan Millhouse before he left with an injury that is not considered serious, Sr. RB’s Alex Chiodo and Jordan Coley as well as Fr. sensations, Justice Antrum and Kyle Williams. The offensive line was anchored by Jr. Christian Montano, Sr. Nate Cuomo, Sr. Cole Perrone, So. Brandon Ginnetti, Jr. Jordan Gifford, Jr. Joe Lord, and So. Jason Ranciato. They all did an outstanding job of blocking for an offense that put up over 60 points. The defense was solid all night, and featured strong performances from Sr. LB Mike Capone, as well as Ginnetti and Coley.
The Hornets open the season on Saturday at 12:00 against Morristown-Beard from New Jersey and it should be a very exciting game. The players, coaches and administrators hope to see you there. Go Hornets!
