Hornets Host LCA in New England Girls Soccer Quarterfinal

Bud Kohler
Girls Varsity Soccer has earned the #2 seeding in the New England Class D Tournament and will host #7 seed Lexington Christian of Massachusetts on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at home. Though the Hornets had bowed out of the Fairchester League tournament against top-ranked St. Luke’s, their overall record against higher class schools put them in good shape for the Class D playoffs. The Hornets have plenty of sting on the field and are poised to make a run for the title. Sophomore Lily Joseph has a terrific work rate and is deadly inside the 18, posing a constant threat to any defense. She is supported by another sharpshooter, Rachel Ballard, as well as freshman workhorse Mila Millhouse. Senior Ellie Moffat helps settle things at midfield, while Madisyn D’Errico and Mia Brandfon play with composure in the back.
The Girls Soccer team has reached the finals in 2014, 2015, and 2017 only to be thwarted each time at the end. However, former long time coach Bud Kohler, whose dynasty included 5 straight New England finals and 3 championships from 2006-2010, has watched the team mature and commented, “This team has what it takes to go all the way. There is senior leadership blended with young talent and an attacking mentality. Coach Joseph has done a great job, so let’s hope we get to raise another banner after all these years.” So come out to Skiff St. to cheer on the team. Go Hornets!
