The Hornets played inspired football from beginning to end on the way to beating St. Luke's 24-6. Eric Warren was his usual solid self with over 100 yards rushing and 2 touchdown runs. Senior Matt Huff saved his best for last as he put together his finest all around game of the year with tough rushing yards, a touchdown, and 5 tackles. The player of the game was Dante Brito. In one of the finer performances of the year, he consistenly gave the Hornets good field position with his aggressive punt and kickoff returns, one going for 60 yards. He was also a sure handed receiver and tackler. Alex Chiodo rounded out the scoring, closing out his spectacular kicking season by being perfect on the day, including a 25 yard field goal. Engineering the balanced attack on offense was, once again, Dylan Pavone. Malcolm Garvey and the entire defense was tested but they came up with the big stops when it was necessary. Tobi Nwangwu had 7 tackles on the day. The team finished the season with a 6-2 record.
The Hornets lost a chance to improve their impressive record by losing to our cross-town rivals. The game was dominated at the line of scrimmage with a ball control type of offense by our visitors resulting in sustained drives that led to three unanswered touchdowns. Time of possession was lopsided and the Hornets offense could not take advantage of the limited opportunities they had during the game. The game was taped and televised by WTNH.
Eric Warren's 5 yard scamper with 30 seconds left in the game culminated a second half comeback by the Hornets as they went on to beat Rye 13-10. A listless Hamden Hall team found themselves down at the half 10-0 after Rye put together sustained drives in the second quarter that resulted in a touchdown and a 30 yard field goal. The Hornets could not move the ball well in the air or on the ground in the first half with the limited chances they had with the ball. Rye also did a good job of keeping the Hornets offense off the field by moving the ball well on the ground and taking time off the clock. The Hornets defensive unit did a good job of keeping the game close to give the offense a chance to get on track. Marc Cafasso, Tobi Ngwangwu, Brandon Cooper, Brian Virgilio, Martin Clak, Malcolm Clark, Malcolm Garvey, Julian Scott, Dante Brito, James Kemler and Adam Bassett made up the defense that deserves a lot of credit for this win. Eric Warren also scored the first touchdown after Dylan Pavone and Dante Brito connected for good passing yardage that resulted in a 10 yard TD run. Alex Chiodo kicked the extra point.
Dylan Pavone led a composed passing attack and Eric Warren ran for a tough 150 yards and a touchdown as the Hornets were able to grind out a quality win over Hackley. The Hornets defensive unit deserves much credit for holding down Hackley's talented offense. Marc Cafasso's interception with 4:00 left in the game helped to seal the win. Alex Chiodo hit a 27 yard field goal, as he continues to establish himself as a top kicker in the league. Malcolm and Martin Clark made their presence felt both on offense and defense, and Dante Brito and Julian Scott(TD catch) came up with key receptions to keep drives alive.
The Hornets broke open a first quarter 7-7 deadlock and rolled over the visiting Crusaders to the delight of the Friday night crowd. Marc Cafasso led all scorers with 116 yards and 3 touchdowns. Eric Warren ran for 85 yards and two TDs. Curtis Antrum had an interception and 35 yard TD. Dante Brito had three catches for 96 yards and a TD. Matt Huff also scored on a 15 yard run. Brandon Cooper led the defense with 2 sacks, 2 tackles for losses, and a fumble recovery.
The Hornets travelled to non-league opponent Oyster Bay High School on Long Island and roughed up the Baymen at their Homecoming on Saturday night. Quarterback Dylan Pavone's 100 yards passing led the way. Eric Warren returned a punt 70 yards for a score in addition to a 10 yard TD run. Curtis Antrum and Victor Joshua also scored. Alex Chiodo kicked a 30 yard field goal and had 4 extra point conversions.
There was just no way to keep the defending Fairchester champs in check. Their offense, led by Penn State bound, Silas Redd, was relentless. Nevertheless, the Hornets gave a good account of themselves. Dante Brito had 4 catches for 100yards. Eric Warren and Curtis Antrum also scored. Quarterback Chris Breuler threw for 200 yards including a 10 yard TD toss to Marc Cafasso.
