Gabe Cohn 2012 at New York Times

Jodi Amatulli
Gabe Cohn, Class of 2012, is a news assistant at the New York Times where his first feature about a filmmaker was published in April. Prior to joining the world-renowned publication in October 2017, Gabe interned as a fact-checker at New York Magazine, researching subjects ranging from culture and fashion to news and politics. While there, he wrote weekly music reviews for the magazine’s culture blog, Vulture, and contributed regularly to the New York Magazine Restaurant Guide. As a print editorial intern, Gabe contributed research to feature articles, including the cover story, Eight Years in America (a retrospective of America during the Obama presidency), and a major feature on homelessness in New York City. He curated and wrote a weekly Design Hunting newsletter and worked with the design editor to run the magazine’s social media. Gabe was an editorial intern for five months for the Theatre Communications Group’s American Theatre magazine where he wrote feature articles for the publication’s print and online versions. Gabe graduated Cum Laude from Skidmore College in 2016, where earned a Bachelor of Arts and served as founding editor-in-chief of the Skidmore Theater Living Newsletter, an online publication that covered the college's theater productions. He wrote and edited interviews and profiles of actors, designers, students, alumni, faculty, and visiting artists. He built and managed a staff of 10-plus writers, and he interviewed and wrote profiles on Broadway, film, and television actors, and a MacArthur Fellowship-winning theater director. Gabe proudly notes that the publication has since been incorporated into the official college website. Gabe did an editorial internship at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies for the organization’s online magazine. He also was president of Awkward Kids Talking Improv Comedy; a radio disc jockey for WSPN 91.1FM; and studied dramatic criticism and theater at the British American Drama Academy, London in Fall 2014. Congratulations to Gabe on his exciting career in journalism. We wish him the best!
