Lower School Music Teacher Recognized for Instructional Longevity

Lower School music teacher Rachael Jungkeit was recognized for her longevity on the faculty of the Neighborhood Music School.

Mrs. Jungkeit has been on the school’s piano faculty for 15 years. She was recently recognized for that decade-and-a-half of service at a dinner and ceremony at Tre Scalini in New Haven.

Seven of Mrs. Jungkeit’s current students at the Neighborhood Music School are Hamden Hall students.

At Hamden Hall, where Mrs. Jungkeit also teaches piano – and recorder, and hand bells, and so much more! – Lower School Director Lorri Carroll noted that the music room is one of the “most joyful places on campus.” Additionally, Mrs. Carroll maintained that the Lower School music curriculum has a global perspective because of Mrs. Jungkeit’s “breadth of experience” with different musical genres and instruments.

“We are so fortunate to have such a talented, dedicated, patient, and inspiring music teacher in our community. Her music classes are a safe space where students feel comfortable to take risks and discover talents they never knew they had,” said Mrs. Carroll.
