1959 Alumna Sent Classmates Regards

Jodi Amatulli
Roberta "Bobbie" Tuttle Remedios, Class of 1959, sent her regards to her 60th reunion classmates from her home in San Francisco. Bobbie was in Connecticut in May, “back home” to celebrate the 80th birthday of her brother, Hamden Hall alumnus Howard Tuttle, Class of 1957.
Bobbie recalled that she started at Hamden Hall in fifth grade. She admitted her affection for languages and proudly notes that she was a top French student during Middle School, and she still reads French today.
When Bobbie got to Upper School, however, she was only allowed to take one language, and she chose Latin. That is when she met Mrs. Westerfeld, one of her favorite teachers. Mrs. Westerfeld paved the way for Bobbie to become a classics major at Connecticut College that led to her becoming a private school teacher, concentrating on Latin classes later in her career.
Bobbie and her husband, Edward—who is from England and Scotland—love to travel, especially to Europe where they spent three months earlier this year. Bobbie loves to paint landscapes and still lifes in acrylics, and uses her home as her gallery.
Bobbie, who was at the top of her class, recalls of her alma mater, "Hamden Hall was a comfortable place for me to be." Today, she wishes everyone well, and she hopes they also enjoy reminiscing about their days under the pines.
