Student Musicians to Take Center Stage at Prestigious State Festival

The dedication and excellence of students in the Upper School Music Department have earned continuous recognition as 10 choralists and three instrumentalists have advanced to participate in the prestigious Connecticut All-State Festival in March.
The choral student representatives include seniors Flynn Carney, Luca Correa, Alma Goren-Eisenberg, Leon Jiang, Tobias Liu, Bruno Massaro, and Alex Pu; and sophomores Kristina Carlson, Clara Garcia-Gallet, and Trin Sukduang. The instrumental student representatives include senior Andrew Yang on trumpet for Band, junior Allison Yang on violin for Orchestra, and freshman Kinan Harb on violin for Orchestra.

Upper School Vocal Music Director Matt Harrison shared that Flynn and Trin achieved high honors as they both earned an almost perfect score with 196/198. Flynn has also achieved a rare achievement of participating in the All-State Festival for four consecutive years.

Upper School Instrumental Director Melissa Hudson shared that Andrew has now advanced to All-State for three years and all the students have contributed to the great success of the program.

The student musicians have earned spots following successful auditions at the Southern Regional High School Festival. The Connecticut All-State Festival is coordinated by the Connecticut Music Educators Association and will take place March 26-28 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
