Mathletes Make It Count and Advance to State Match
The Middle School MathCounts Team competed in the New Haven Chapter of the Connecticut MathCounts Competition at Yale University with Hamden Hall earning representation at the state competition next month.
The team is comprised of eighth-graders and team captain Linnea Carlson, Ben Paquin, Leo Spiegel, and Claire Sun; and seventh-graders Willow Parke and Daniil Ziganshin. Middle School math teacher John Scaife serves as the faculty advisor and sophomore Kristina Carlson is the assistant coach.
According to Mr. Scaife, the team competed well with Daniil, Ben, and Claire all advancing to the MathCounts Connecticut State Competition with a date to be announced.
MathCounts is a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live contests against and alongside their peers. Each competition builds problem-solving skills and fosters achievement through four levels of fun, in-person “bee”-style contests.
