Literary Magazine FACES Awarded with Top Honor

The Hamden Hall Literary Magazine FACES has received the highest honor from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), earning a “First Class” distinction in the 2025 Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) contest.  This marks the second consecutive year FACES has earned this remarkable distinction.

Under the advisement of faculty members Tricia Dowcett and Jennifer Manley, the student-produced publication showcases original writing and artwork. Senior Evelyn Liu serves as the editor and club head of FACES.

“We are so proud of all the hard work our students have put into this publication, and
we especially want to highlight Evelyn's outstanding leadership and contributions to this publication,” shared Ms. Dowcett and Ms. Manley.

The mission of the REALM program is to publicly recognize excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing.
