Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Closes Out Regular Season

The Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Team traveled to Suffield Academy for its final game of the regular season on Friday, May 8, winning 13-4.
Taking the field, the Hornets set the tone early with the defense holding Suffield scoreless in the first quarter while the offense put up one goal. The team extended the lead in the second, adding four more goals to make it 5-2 going into halftime. The offense exploded in the third quarter with five goals while allowing none, pushing the lead to 10-2, before closing out the game with three goals in the fourth quarter for the 13-4 win.

Sophomore Landon Kaliszewski led the attack with four goals and added a team-high of three assists. Junior Logan Rapuano contributed three goals, while junior Austin McWeeney added two goals, and eighth grader Cooper Lily chipped in two assists on the playmaking side.

On the ground, junior Cooper Zebrowski controlled the midfield with six ground balls. Junior Toby Blackhawk, junior Gavin Giugno, and freshman Bryant Krueger each added five ground balls to dominate possession. Defensively, the goalie turned in an outstanding performance with 14 saves, anchoring a stingy defense that allowed only four goals all game.

The team also won its game against King School on Friday, May 1, with a dominant 16-9 victory.

The team returns to the field for the semifinal game of the Fairchester Athletic Association League Tournament against Rye Country Day School on Tuesday, May 12, at 5 p.m.
