Seven Degrees of Hamden Hall Continue for James Dahill 1977
While 1977 non-graduating student James “Jamie” Dahill left Hamden Hall after ninth grade, he has maintained many Hornet friendships from his days under the pines.
“I went to Hamden Hall for seventh, eighth and ninth grade,” recalled Jamie. “I was a big-time swimmer my whole life, and Hamden Hall did not have a swim team at that time. I really wanted to swim competitively, so I ended up transferring to Loomis Chaffee School.”
Despite leaving early, Jamie nonetheless stayed friends with a core group of classmates with whom he continues to stay in touch.
“From the Class of 1977, I was friends with Lenny Fasano, Mark Adley, and Dana Barron. Ted Shay, who tragically passed away, was also a good friend. I ended up going to Boston College, and Billy Carroll 1979 was there at the same time. Billy is a good friend, and I reconnected with him and Wendell Jenkins 1977 when I lived in New York City. We had lots of fun times at Yale football and hockey games and summers in Cape Cod back in the day. Looking at pictures of everybody brings me back like a Hot Tub Time Machine,” Jamie reflected.
Jamie has built an extensive career as a medical sales representative, working for top companies in New York City.
“I sell skin grafts to acute care hospitals, physician offices, and wound care clinics,” said Jamie. “The skin grafts could be from a cow, pig, or sheep, or it could be a human amniotic tissue membrane. The artificial skin grafts are used for burns, trauma, and all types of soft tissue defects. Once it’s harvested and processed, doctors apply it to the wound bed. I work in a complex, fast-paced environment that’s very performance driven and patient focused.”
After a long career working in New York City, Jamie moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2024.
“I started my own medical device distribution firm specializing in skin grafts here in Florida,” said Jamie. “I cover Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade Counties. With the boom in seniors retiring in Florida, there are thankfully plenty of hospitals, surgery centers, and wound care clinics to service us Baby Boomers.”
Jamie said he misses his friends in New York City, but also loves his new life in Florida.
“I stay active and ride my bike a lot,” said Jamie. “My place has a beautiful pool, and I swim a lot. There are tons of concerts and music festivals in the area. I like to ride my bike a couple miles to the beach, listen to music, and people watch.”
