FAA Tournament Welcomes Co-ed Varsity Wrestling

The Co-ed Varsity Wrestling Team traveled to Brunswick School for the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament on January 31 with three wrestlers qualifying for New Englands.

The tournament welcomed Brunswick School, Greens Farms Academy, Greenwich Country Day School, Rye Country Day School and Hopkins School to compete against the Hornets.

It was a strong showcase for the team as junior Carmine Cariati pinned his opponent from Rye in the second period and secured a well-earned victory. Carmine won all his individual matches as fellow junior Fred Liu also won his match quickly against his opponent from Greenwich.

Coach Kiernan Griffin 2000 noted that Carmine, junior Gavin Giugno, and sophomore Trin Sukduang have all qualified for the New England Tournament.

The team returns to the mat for a non-league tournament against Hopkins School, Hotchkiss School, and Marianapolis School on Wednesday, February 4, at 4:15 p.m.
