Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Open Season on the Road
The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team opened its season with an away dual meet against Brunswick School and Greenwich Academy on Wednesday, December 10.
For the Boys’ Team, seniors Jack Shi and Tyler Tagliarini, junior Paxon Campbell, and freshman Blake Zeitlin placed second in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.73. Jack placed first in the Boys’ 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.91 with fellow senior Cameron Puhl right behind in second place with a time of 1:18.45. Tyler placed first in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.47 and set a new school record in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 53.43 and claimed second place overall. Senior Heath Schwartz placed second in the Boys’ 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:43.55.
For the Girls’ Team, sophomores Angelina Nicotra and Josephine Nicotra, freshman Rosemary White, and eighth-grader Skyler Yang placed first in the 400-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:38.97. Angelina placed first in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 27.24 and second place in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:01.26 with freshman Alina Zhu in third place with a time of 1:03.11. Rosemary placed second in the 100-Yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.62 and third place in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:27.89. Seventh-grader Cassidy Clapp placed second in the 500-Freestyle with a time of 6:07.44 and junior Alessandra Sticca placed second in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:09.06.
For the 1m diving, seventh-grader Mason Ryalls placed second for the Boys’ Team with a score of 147.45, and seventh-grader Willow Parke scored 130.95 points and sophomore Phoebe Roness scored 129.38 for the Girls’ Team.
“The team delivered outstanding early-season performances; remarkable times and scores posted, and a new school record that set the tone for an exciting season ahead,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “The meet itself showcased Hamden Hall’s talent, heart, and upward trajectory.”
The team returns to the pool for an away meet against Greenwich Country Day School and Masters School hosted at the Greenwich YMCA on Saturday, January 10, at 1 p.m.
