Hornets Hang Tough, Emerge Victorious

It was a nail-biter, but the Hornets were able to hang tough against the Canterbury School and reel in a thrilling 4-3 victory. Janie Motter, Chrissy Lifton, and Maddie Belt played some skilled tennis but lost at 1st, 2nd and 4th singles, respectively; all three players fought hard and played well. Simona Fried, at 3rd singles, lost her first set, but turned the tables on her opponent, winning the second set 6-3 and taking the third set at a decisive 6-0. At #1 doubles, the Mighty Massey twins, Morgan and Taylor, won in straight sets (their record stands 8 wins and 2 losses for the season). Also winning in straight sets was  #2 doubles, Chelsea Fusco, paired for the first time with Shin-Hae Lee, they were an impressive partnership. The pivotal match was third doubles, comprised of Abby Ginsberg and Sarah Haddad. In a true cliff-hanger, they lost narrowly in the first set (7-5), took the second set (6-3) and won in a tiebreaker in the third set, 7-6 (7-2).
