Hornets Come Closer to Victory
With Captain Averi Schwartz and Junior Lucy Greger-Moser on the DL, the Hornets had to switch up the game plan. Filling in at #1 singles was sophomore Jane Motter, who played an excellent match, almost taking the second set. Sophomore Chrissy Lifton fought hard at the #2 singles spot, and has been steadily improving with each match, as have freshman Shin-Hae Lee at third singles and sophomore Maddie Belt in the #4 four position. In what has become a wonderful tradition, the Massey twins, Morgan and Taylor, triumphed in two quick sets at first doubles, playing with their customary grace and skill. Sophomores Chelsea Fusco and Simona Fried played a stellar match, emerging victorious in straight sets. Junior Abby Ginsberg and sophomore Summer Irving played well at third doubles, but in the end lost to their opponents from Holy Child. All in all, it was an exciting match, and every player is upping the quality of her game. This weekend, we play Canterbury. Go, Hornets!
