Class of 2019 alumna Ainsley Baker married Manuel López at the St. Mary Church of Blessed Michael McGivney Parish in New Haven on October 2. The reception followed at the New Haven Lawn Club.
The ceremony was incredibly special as the date marked the couple’s sixth-year anniversary. In attendance were several Hamden Hall guests including Ainsley’s younger brother and sister, Class of 2024 alumnus Owen Baker and current eighth-grader Carmen Frey, along with her dear friends and fellow Class of 2019 alumnae Sophie Deshpande, Kiley Herlihy, and Kirsten “Shaw” Mettler. Following the wedding, Ainsley and Manuel enjoyed a honeymoon in Spain.
The couple met through friends while attending Brown University for their undergraduate studies. Ainsley was a sophomore majoring in chemistry and Manuel was a junior majoring in chemical engineering. Ainsley shared that it was quite easy to fall in love as they shared mutual interests and hobbies of science, video games, and coffee shops. Manuel is from Venezuela, but lived in Riverside, Conn., and they were engaged on their five-year anniversary.
Currently, Ainsley and Manuel reside in the East Rock neighborhood of New Haven. They are both pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees at Yale University, Ainsley in biophysical chemistry and Manuel in computational engineering. Ainsley shares that she does visit her siblings frequently as well as Sophie Deshpande as she works as the Middle School administrative assistant at Hamden Hall.
