Good Friends and Bad Golf for the Boys of 1982

Friends from the Class of 1982 reunited for their annual August gathering. Director of Alumni Relations Herb Emanuelson reported that the crew included Rob Dietter, Evan Shweky, Rick Winters, Mike Litsky, Steve Gibbs, Dave Brause, and Gary (Hank) Greenberg. Dave Caminear would have also been there, but was out of town that weekend.

“It’s great to all get together each summer,” said Herb. “We see some mix of us at the holidays, and here and there during the year, but this summer gathering is a long tradition when we are all in town.”

Herb added that this band of brothers has been together since elementary school.

“Not to get too sentimental about these guys, but we’ve been like brothers since sixth grade,” said Herb. “Some of us even go back to childhood when Hank would read from his book of 101 elephant jokes in the bunks at Camp Laurelwood.”

With a start like that, it’s not surprising Hank made his career in comedy.

“We pay off our fantasy football debts, have dinner, and play golf,” explained Herb. “We also retell a lot of old stories. We’ve heard them all before — many times — but they still make us laugh. We also each have a few minutes at dinner to go around the table and bring us all up to date on our lives: relationships, family, work, and future plans.”

Next up for the Class of 1982 is its 45th anniversary at REUNION 2027 on Saturday, June 12. All Alumni are welcome, but we celebrate the classes ending in 2s and 7s.
