George Whitaker Fouser, Hamden Hall Class of 1943, died peacefully at his home in the Short Beach area of Branford, on February 25, at the age of 100.
George was predeceased by his wife, Rosamond Hammer Fouser, two sons, and a grandson. He is survived by six remaining children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After high school, George joined the US Navy and enrolled in Yale University's V-12 officer training program. He learned to fly Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bombers in preparation for the US invasion of Japan. After the war, he graduated from brown with a B.A. He went on to graduate studies at Harvard University and completed an M.A. in the History of Art.
