Double Homecoming Win for Boys’ Varsity Water Polo

The Boys’ Varsity Water Polo Team won both of its matches during Homecoming 2025. The team hosted Deerfield Academy and Williston Northampton School at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium on October 11.
Hamden Hall defeated Deerfield with a score of 21-13 in game one. Senior and captain Heath Schwarz had 11 goals, 11 assists, and two steals as fellow senior and captain Jack Cucchiarelli had five goals, four assists, three steals, and two shot blocks. Sophomore John Countryman had two goals, four assists, and two steals; junior Jehan Mody two assists and one steal; freshman Blake Zeitlin three goals, five assists, one steal, and one shot block; and eighth-grader Leo Spiegel had three assists, one steal and one shot block. Senior and goalie Jack Shi had 12 saves in the net.
 
In the second game, the team defeated Williston Northampton with a score of 16-11. Player highlights include Heath Schwarz with seven goals, four assists, and one steal while both Jack Cucchiarelli and John Countryman had three goals each. Sophomore Henry Hortotan had one steal and freshman Blake Zeitlin had six steals and one shot block.
 
At the end of the second game, Coach Martha Phelan and the team celebrated its four senior players Heath Schwarz, Jack Cucchiarelli, Jack Shi, and Grant Evans. Coach Phelan shared how it has been a “privilege to witness the growth and maturity of these young men in and out of the pool these past four years.”
 
The team returns to the pool for an away match against Brunswick School on Saturday, October 18, at 3 p.m.
