League Conference Win for Boys’ Varsity Water Polo
The Boys’ Varsity Water Polo Team traveled to Hopkins for an away league conference match on Wednesday, September 24, winning 21-11.
Sophomore John Countryman led the team with six goals, two steals, and one shot block as senior and captain Heath Schwarz was right behind with five goals, two assists, and one shot block, while senior and fellow captain Jack Cucchiarelli had four goals, four assists, and five steals. Freshman Blake Zeitlin had three goals, one assist, and three steals, and eighth-grader Leo Spiegel had three goals, two assists, and one steal.
Other player highlights included junior Jehan Mody with six assists and one steal and sophomore Henry Hortotan with one steal. Senior and goalie Jack Shi had seven saves in the net to secure the victory.
“This small squad showcased versatile skills with contributions from everyone,” said Coach Martha Phelan.
The team returns to the pool for its first home match of the season against Greenwich Country Day School at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium on Tuesday, September 30, at 4 p.m.
