The Girls’ Varsity Softball Team competed against Fairchester Athletic Association League rival King School on Friday, May 2, winning 8-4.
Freshman and starting pitcher Chloe Carling took the mound for eight innings, striking out nine players and only allowing two earned runs and two unearned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, senior Mara Patterson went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBIs as fellow senior Melanie Carling went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Sophomore Mia Verderame had one RBI, freshman Hannah Crocker had two runs and one stolen base, and freshman Kristina Carlson had one hit and one run.
Coach Laura Montone noted that Mara hit her first home run of the season and it was a game changing moment that gave the team the win.
