Diamond Win on Senior Night for Girls’ Varsity Softball
The Girls’ Varsity Softball Team welcomed Greenwich Country Day School for an afternoon game on Monday, April 28, winning 22-3.
Taking the field at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex, freshman Chloe Carling took the mound and struck out three players through one inning. Senior Melanie Carling closed out the game, striking out five players and allowing no earned hits or runs.
At the plate, Chloe had two runs, one triple, and four RBI as Melanie had three runs and one RBI. Senior Mara Patterson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and two RBIs while sophomore Rylee Sweeney had three runs and one RBI. Sophomore Mia Verderame had three runs, one hit, and one RBI as freshman Kristina Carlson had two runs, one hit, one double, and two RBIs.
Following an exciting win, the team honored its senior players including Melanie Carling, Summer Krajcir, and Mara Patterson.
The Lady Hornets travel to Cheshire Academy for a game on Wednesday, April 30, at 4:30 p.m.
