Hamden Hall is proud to offer the greater community an opportunity to participate in four different athletic clubs the school offers. Participants are able to learn various skills and techniques from Hamden Hall's experienced coaches and athletic professionals amid our premier multi-sport venue at our Skiff Street Athletic Complex.

    If your son or daughter loves basketball, the Hamden Hall Basketball Club is the perfect opportunity to build skills, develop confidence, and grow their love for the game. Each week, players will focus on improving fundamental skills including shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork, and overall basketball knowledge in a fun and supportive environment.

    Designed and led by Hamden Hall Director of Basketball Sean Doherty, the Hamden Hall Basketball Club (HHBC) provides expert instruction from a coach with more than 20 years of college coaching experience at the Division I, Division II, and Division III levels. Players will learn from his experience, passion, and commitment to helping young athletes improve both on and off the court.


    Gold Package: $400 / Includes: All 15 dates, T-Shirt 
    Silver Package: $300 / Includes: 10 Sessions
    Individual Session Packages: $35 / Includes One Lesson and Instruction

    Head Coach: Sean Doherty / sdoherty@hamdenhall.org 
    Coach Doherty is the Head Coach of the Hamden Hall Varsity
    Boys’ Basketball Team and brings over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience. Under his leadership, the Hornets won back-to-back Fairchester League Regular Season and Playoff Championships (2017-18 & 2018-19) and captured the NEPSAC Class B Championship in 2018-19 with an impressive 25-2 record. Before Hamden Hall, Doherty spent nine years as an assistant coach at Division I Quinnipiac University, coached at Salem State College with a dominant 91-20 record, and helped lead Holy Cross to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

    Hamden Hall Volleyball Club Tryouts (2026–2027 Season)

    Join the Hamden Hall Volleyball Club for the 2026–2027 season! We are holding tryouts for our 14U, 15U, 16U, and 17U teams.

    Tryout Information

    Cost: $60
    Your registration includes three tryout opportunities:
    • Friday, August 14 | 6:30–8:30 p.m.
    • Saturday, August 15 | 6:30–8:30 p.m.
    • Sunday, August 16 | 6:30–8:30 p.m.
    Only one tryout session is required to be considered for a roster spot, but players are welcome to attend all three sessions at no additional cost.

    Can't Attend?

    If you are unable to attend any of the scheduled tryouts and roster spots remain available, a private tryout may be arranged.
    Email Coach Gary Aurora at gaurora@hamdenhall.org to schedule an alternative tryout.
    Please note: All summer tryouts must be completed by August 24, 2026.
    Some roster spots on each team are expected to remain available for fall tryouts.

    Team Eligibility

    Please review the USA Volleyball Age Definition Chart to determine the appropriate age division for your athlete.

    Season Cost

    14U, 15U, 16U & 17U: $2,500 per player
    Hotel accommodations are not included.

    Payment Schedule

    Upon accepting a roster spot:
    • First payment: $1,000 due immediately upon acceptance (non-refundable)
    • Second payment: $1,500 due on or before January 15, 2027 (non-refundable)
    The initial payment secures the player's roster spot and covers season startup expenses.

    Practice Schedule

    Practices begin November 30, 2026, and will be held:
    • Mondays and Wednesdays
    • Beckerman Athletic Center
    • Through April 2027

    Preliminary Tournament Schedule

    Each team will compete in four convention center tournaments. Final tournament details will be confirmed in September.
    Tentative schedule includes:
    • Nike Wicked Good (December)
    • Nike Winterfest (January)
    • Nike Boston National Qualifier (February)
    • Nike Rhode Island Rumble (April)

    USAV Membership Requirement

    Players who accept a roster spot must purchase a USA Volleyball (NERVA) Junior Player Membership.
    • 26–27 NERVA Junior Player Membership: $65
    • Valid through August 31, 2027
    • Required for participation in all USAV/NERVA sanctioned events

    About Coach Kiernan Griffin

    Hamden Hall alum Kiernan Griffin (‘00) returned in 2021 to lead the Wrestling and Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse teams and now oversees the newly established Hamden Hall Wrestling Club. A former multi-sport athlete, he earned 13 varsity letters in football, wrestling, and lacrosse and was a two-time National Prep qualifier.
    Kiernan continued his athletic career at Trinity College, later studying Fine Art Photography in California. He built a successful contracting business before returning to Connecticut, where he coached at Hamden Hall and led youth lacrosse programs.
