Resounding Success for Upper School Music Program

Hamden Hall’s music program outdid its own three-year record for the number of students – both choral and instrumental – selected to the Southern Connecticut Regional Honor Choir and Orchestra.

Thirty-nine Upper School choral and instrumental students received the nod to perform at the Connecticut Music Educators Association Festival on January 11 and 12 at Platt High School in Meriden.

For two years straight, during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 years, Hamden Hall sent 29 of its students to the prestigious festival – the highest number of students from any one school district in the southern region. During the 2015-2016 year, Hamden Hall sent 20 students, which was also a record-breaking number.

Selection to Regionals ensures an audition for Connecticut’s All-State Honor Choir and Orchestra, which is the highest honor for a choral/instrumental student in Connecticut.

Choral students selected are Sopranos Aya Wazaz (#2 in the region), Rachel Aliwalas (#4 in the region), Isabel Dunlap (#5 in the region), Mari Clark, Rosa Wang, Candice Wang, Autumn Boyce, Sammi Aitro, Audra Foti, Katherine Jiang, and Audrey Dunlap; Altos are Kat Baehring (#1 in the region), Charlotte Ren, Vedica Chopra, Julia Pandolfi, Christy Li, Georgia Yu, Chavon Patterson, and Gaby Rosen; Tenors are Liv Caldarella (tied for #3 in the region), Todd Tan, Hunter Lin, Andrew Neubauer, and Zean Wu; and Basses are Eduardo Pagliaro-Haque (#5 in the region), Akash Jyothish, Ben Lovell, Timi Afolalu, Darian Simerson, Ryan Cawley, William Mollow, and Parker Schultz.
