It's the 'Maine' Stage for Upper School Actors

The Upper School fall production of Almost, Maine features a smorgasbord of student actors who have transported themselves to wintry northern Maine.

According to director Charlie Alexander, Almost, Maine, is an incredibly awkward, funny, and heartfelt step into the lives of 20 people in a township in northern Maine. The students involved with this production have worked long and hard to produce a show that will leave you laughing and feeling warm - not a bad place to be with winter approaching, he said.

“Hamden Hall's production of Almost, Maine has proven to be an excellent training tool for the actors. The cast has delved deeply into creating close relationships on stage that require a lot of good-humored vulnerability,” said Mr. Alexander.

The cast of 25 is made up of a variety of students, including athletes, international students, and Upper and Lower classmen. 

It’s a cold, clear, winter night when the fun begins in a place so far north that it's almost in Canada. Residents fall in and out of love in unexpected ways and hilarity ensues.

“Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream,” a play overview states.

The show runs Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 15-17. While both shows on Friday and Saturday start at 7 p.m., opening night on Thursday commences at 8 p.m. in the Taylor Performing Arts Center. Click here to order tickets.

Audience members are invited after Friday’s performance to enjoy cookies and coffee at a reception in Swain Library.
