Alumnus on ‘Smooth’ Ride In the Business World

Many folks have a hankering for smoothies, but one Hamden Hall alumnus put his personal palate to a professional test. The result for Konstanino “Kostas” Sousoulas, Class of 2015, is a company he established that’s gaining statewide visibility and most recently, made its way onto a national stage. Kostas is the proud founder of Yimello Smoothies. The company sells pre-packaged gourmet fruit smoothies in a variety of flavors, and they’re showing up in groceries stores throughout Connecticut, thanks to the marketing savvy of Kostas. Yimello first gained attention in November when Kostas, a sophomore in the entrepreneurship and small business management program at Quinnipiac University, won the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) at a statewide competition held in Norwalk. In early March, he participated in the national GSEA in Kansas City, Mont. Although Kostas didn’t win, he was proud to be the Connecticut representative. Kostas, who grew up in a family in the food business, will share his Yimello journey at a Hamden Hall Upper School assembly March 29. “Hamden Hall stimulated my mind and allowed me to think critically and creatively,” Kostas said. “And Hamden Hall is not just a school but a community where students are encouraged to work harder than they believe is possible.” At the invitation of Dr. Frank “Doc” Gasparro, director of Hamden Hall’s signature Science, Innovation & Design Program, Kostas returned to campus and addressed students at an Upper School assembly.
